We know that moving can be stressful. This is especially true during the holiday season! Brothers is here to share some our favorite (nearly) free ways to get into the spirit of the season and take part in the simple joys of Christmas.

Christmas Boxes

Do you have any leftover boxes from your move? Pair those empty boxes with an opportunity to clean out closets and pantries before or after you move. Fill the boxes with gently used clothes, nonperishable foods, kitchen appliances and utensils, and linens. Plan to donate them to a homeless shelter or to organizations such as Habitat For Humanity.

Be A Bookworm

The public library is a great place to pick up seasonal books to get you in the spirit of Christmas. While you can enjoy the story, you don’t have to worry about spending extra money on books (unless you incur late fees!). Also, it’s one less thing you have to find storage space for later. Another great thing about the library? There are often seasonal story time hours for children, which keeps the kiddos entertained while you peruse the shelves.

It’s Beginning To Smell A Lot Like Christmas

The smells are one of the best things about the holidays! Firewood, peppermint, cinnamon, pine, and sugar cookies are some of the most nostalgic scents out there. If you aren’t big fan of baking, fires, or trees (allergies, anyone?!), there are some amazing scented candles and wax tarts available. Not only does it help you feel more festive, it makes your whole house smell fantastic.

Start A New Tradition

Who says you have to do the same thing year after year? Try some of these ideas:

  • Night Light Trip: Make a batch of hot cocoa, pour it into car-safe cups, and drive around to see Christmas lights.
  • Volunteer: Whether it’s at a soup kitchen, church, or animal shelter, There is always a place that needs volunteers. Your time is important. Sharing it with others is a great way to get into the holiday spirit.
  • Family Activities Night: Print off a few craft pages or fun family games. It’s a great way to spend time together as a family.

We hope you choose to implement a few of these ideas to bring back the simple joys of Christmas to your holiday season.

Merry Christmas from the Brothers team!
