It’s June 1st already! It’s hard for us to believe that summer is already here (though not “officially”). Summertime is hands-down the busiest season for moving. However, it’s not without its difficulties. We’re here to share some summer moving tips to help you stay safe and get moved successfully.

ToggleSummer Moving Tip #1 – Mornings Are Best
After living in West Texas for any period of time, you know that summers can be brutally hot. Typically, the average summer temp hovers around 95°F. Any bit of rain in the forecast increases the humidity, which makes it even hotter. Because the temperatures usually decrease overnight, mornings are obviously cooler. By getting started earlier in the day, you can get the hard work done before it starts getting too hot out by mid-day.
Summer Moving Tip #2 – Stay Hydrated
Sweating it out at the gym is one thing, but sweating it out while you’re lugging furniture is another. Sweating is your body’s way to cool itself down. However, as you sweat more, it’s important to replenish the fluids you lose during perspiration. During hot weather, it’s important than ever to drink lots of water. This includes moving day! Be sure to take frequent water breaks during the moving process to prevent dehydration.
Summer Moving Tip #3 – Make Arrangements
If you’re planning on moving with kids or pets, it’s ideal to make arrangements for them ahead of time. This is particularly important during extreme weather. It’s difficult to make sure you’re getting everything done on top of worrying about everyone getting overheated.
It’s also important to make sure that the to/from environments are already cool for your departure and arrival. Be sure to set up your utilities ahead of your move, so that there’s no loss of air conditioning in your new or old place.
Additionally, like we said above, summer is the busiest time of year for movers. If you’re looking for professional help like Brothers, we recommend setting up your move with us as far in advance as possible. If you’re on the schedule already, it helps us to balance the workload among our team.
Summer Moving Tip #4 – Get Help
If you’re planning to move yourself, try to get as many hands on deck as possible! The more people you have helping you means the less time you’re spending out in the heat.
