City of Midland Water | Midland Water Department

Is Midland water safe to drink? In general, Midland water is safe for any purpose, but the city occasionally issues boil water notices due to safety problems. The most recent notice was issued on January 5, 2023, and lifted on January 7. Boil water notices are posted on the Midland city government website, local news stations, and the government’s Facebook page.

The City of Midland water department is the main water provider in Midland TX. The monthly base rate for up to 2,000 gallons of water is $21.61. If you live in an apartment and use less than 2,000 gallons, you pay $17.60 for water every month.

Rates go up significantly if you use more water. If you use between 2,001 and 10,000 gallons, you pay $6.11 for every 1,000 gallons after the first 2,000 gallons. You can view the full water rates on the City of Midland’s website.

Reliant Energy has been in Texas for more than 20 years. Like TXU, Reliant has its headquarters outside Midland, but the company offers numerous services to Midland residents.

Gas | Atmos Energy 

The City of Midland recommends that residents order their gas from Atmos Energy. Atmos has its headquarters in Dallas, and it is one of the country’s biggest suppliers of natural gas.

Midland residents are in Atmos’ West Texas service area. Charges vary from month to month, depending on how much natural gas is available. In October 2022, the monthly rate for Midland residents was $18.27. Atmos also charges a consumption charge, which was 33 cents per Ccf in October 2022.
