Summer is one of the busiest moving times of the year and May is Nation Moving Month! Real estate sales and leases are kicking into full swing. To start things of, just in time for summer, we’re sharing some information on how to make your summertime move easier.

Step 1: Figure Out What Goes

And what stays, what gets donated, and what get trashed. If you’ve read our blog on getting organized in 2017, you know we have a lot of tips to help you figure out how to do that. Even before you put your home on the market, it’s important to determine which items are you willing to part with or move. This is particularly important if you are downsizing.

Step 2: Schedule Carefully

Make sure that you give yourself plenty of time. Even though summer days are longer than summer nights, it’s important to give yourself enough time to get things done. Set up a list of to-do’s each day. It’s helpful to start out by packing rooms that are used the least. For instance, start with guest rooms, half bathrooms, and living areas. Pack up miscellaneous items such as books, specialty cookware, and decorative items first.

Step 3: Plan Ahead

Moving in the summer means that you should plan for hot temperatures. If you are moving within the city, plan to keep frozen and refrigerated goods cold using coolers and ice. It’s also important to remember to stay hydrated during warmer months. Pack bottled water and drink it frequently to avoid dehydrated.
