There are plenty of moving companies out there. However, do you really know how good they are in actuality? Finding a company that is licensed, bonded, and insured is one of the most important things to think about when choosing a mover. The team at Brothers is here to fill you in on the differences.
Table of Contents
ToggleLicensing
In the state of Texas, moving companies are required to obtaining licensing through the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles. They provide information on their website about ways you can identify potentially unlicensed moving companies. By requiring licensing, the government is forcing moving companies to comply with advanced safety laws and procedures. It also establishes an additional level of security for consumers.
Bonding
When a company acquires a bond, they create an added level of responsibility to their customers. Bonds are important, as they are essentially the (added) promise of a company to:
- complete the job at hand
- comply with permitting regulations
- pay for services (such as subcontractors and insurance) which enable them to do business
- provide extra protection against damages
Bonds are particularly important in ensuring that jobs are completed. While many bonds are critical for construction projects, they are also important for moving companies.
Insurance
Of the three, this item is the most important to our customers. There are actually two types of insurance:
- Workman’s compensation provides protection for workers against lost wages if they are injured on the job.
- General liability provides protection against damages to the consumer’s property.
Brothers provides both of these types of insurance as a protection to our customers and our employees.
Why These Are Important
There are many fly-by-night companies who try to skirt practices that protect their customers. Often times, they utilize unmarked trucks, offer “too good to be true pricing”, and don’t provide any paperwork. This can be detrimental to customers. These companies don’t cover any damages, which means you’re left to foot the bill.
Brothers is licensed, bonded, and insured to give our customers peace of mind. We want you to feel comfortable knowing that while we don’t anticipate any issues, you’re covered. Our take on it is that it’s better to have it and not need it than to not have it and need it. These items aren’t optional to us.
Brothers Moving and Storage is proud to provide our customers with the assurance that their belongings are safe in our hands. We can’t wait to work with you. Contact us today for a free (licensed, bonded, and insured) estimate.
