Congratulations! You signed the deed, all of the paperwork for the bank went through, and you have the keys to your new home in hand! The movers (hopefully Brothers Moving and Storage) have delivered all the boxes and furniture to your new home and you are winding down after a long, tiring day of shuffling furniture through doors. You want your pajamas… but then you realize that they’re at the bottom of a box which is buried underneath all the other boxes.

This is definitely nothow you want to start off in your new home; save yourself the hassle of digging through random stuff at ten o’clock at night by setting aside these items for that first night in your new home.

1. Clothing

You definitely want pajamas, but also think about what you will be wearing the next day as well. Make sure that the clothing you set aside is comfortable for the large task of unpacking everything in the morning, and that you have the proper underclothes as well!

2. Toiletries

Toothbrush, toothpaste, hair brush, deodorant, toilet paper, soap, shampoo, bath towels. Check, check, check, and check. If you have small children, this would also include things like diapers and wet-wipes.

3. Medications

If you have any medical conditions that require regular doses of medications, make sure to make your pill bottles easily accessible. This would also include things like vitamins. You might want to consider having a first aid kit handy as well, just in case scrapes and bruises happen while you’re unpacking.

4. Cleaning Supplies

If you weren’t able to get into the house to clean before all of your stuff was moved in, or if you didn’t bother to dust off the knickknacks before you tossed them in the box, you’ll probably want some paper towels and cleaning solution readily available.

5. Snacks

You’ll probably be eating take-out for the next few nights, but also make sure that you have granola bars or other easy snacks that you can munch on while working hard.

6. Phone Chargers

It would be a bummer if you were planning on offering your moving helpers pizza as a “thank you,” but you couldn’t call the pizza place because your phone ran out of charge. Have your phone charger handy, as well as any other small electronics and their power sources that you anticipate needing before your belongings are unpacked.

Moving can be a beastly chore, but it can be made a lot more pleasant by making sure that your basic living necessities are easily accessible. So grab a box and start packing then call Brothers Moving today to schedule your move!
